1 . Laser Welding Process Solutions and Core Objectives

As the core component of electrical control systems, electrical control cabinets are widely used in critical fields such as industrial production and power transmission. Their structural strength, sealing performance, and assembly precision directly affect the stability of the electrical system. Traditional processes such as argon arc welding suffer from drawbacks such as large deformation, unstable quality, and low efficiency, making them unsuitable for the precision manufacturing requirements of high-end electrical control cabinets. Laser welding, with its advantages of high precision, low deformation, high strength, and high efficiency, has become the preferred choice for manufacturing upgrades. The core objectives of this solution are: weld strength ≥ 90% of the base material, deformation within ±0.2mm, outdoor sealing reaching IP54, efficiency improvement of over 30%, and compliance with environmental regulations.

2 . Core requirements

  • 1. Weld Quality: The weld shall have an aesthetic appearance, free from defects such as porosity, cracks and incomplete penetration; the weld strength shall not be less than 90% of the base material strength, meeting the structural load-bearing and anti-vibration requirements of the electrical control cabinet.
  • 2. Welding Precision: For thin-walled components of electrical control cabinets such as door panels, frames and partitions (usually 1.5-2mm thick).
  • 3. Sealing Performance: For electrical control cabinets used outdoors or in special environments, the welds shall have good sealing performance, with water and dust resistance grade not lower than IP54.
  • 4. Production Efficiency: Compared with traditional welding processes, the production efficiency shall be increased by more than 30% to reduce labor dependence.
  • 5. Environmental Requirements: No obvious fume or waste gas emission during welding, complying with national industrial environmental protection standards.

3 . The feasibility of the welding process

  • Material Compatibility: Both Q235 steel plates and 304 stainless steel are easy-to-weld materials for laser welding. Laser energy can be quickly absorbed by the materials to form a stable molten pool, resulting in good weld formation;
  •  Combined with the positioning accuracy of ±0.05mm of the Robot system, it can accurately butt welds, effectively control welding deformation, and meet the assembly precision requirements of electrical control cabinets;
  • Efficiency and Cost: The laser welding speed can reach 1.2-1.5m/min (adjusted according to the plate thickness), which is significantly higher than that of argon arc welding (0.5m/min). At the same time, laser welding does not require filler wire (autogenous welding for thin plates), reducing subsequent grinding workload by more than 60% and lowering material and labor costs
